Having clean air should be the number one thing on your list and getting the right air purifier is vital. With these 5 features from an air purifier, you will be able to enjoy cleaner air.

Filter for dust: If you have pets, they will produce a lot of dust that will lead to dirty air in your home. It won’t take you too long to realize this problem once you have your pet inside your home. Fortunately for the bird, this powder helps their wings stay healthy. Unfortunately for you, it can mean hours of cleaning only to have more of it show up at the end of the day.

Using a cleaner that has filters that are specifically designed to remove high volumes of particles is essential in eliminating the powder. These filters are known as HEPA filters with HEPA meaning ‘high efficiency particle arresting’. These letters stand for a filter that has been rated as high efficiency particle arresting.

And the benefit of this type of filtration to you and your bird is that it is required to remove 99,997 out of every 10,000 airborne particles that are 3 microns or greater in size.

Several filtration speed settings: There will be days where you will have more dust in the air. It can be due to a number of reasons—they are more active, you are cleaning, or both.

This enables the air purifier to remove particles faster and this would do well for your health as you breathe in less particles. Ultimately, being able to adjust the filtration speed will keep you and your avian friend healthier.

This also allows you to save on your cost. After the air in your home is calm and clean, you can tune it to a lower speed and this saves electricity.

24 hour Filtering: Because dusts will always be around, you need constant filtering process in your room or home to prevent dust from building up to a level that causes health problems.

It is vital for you to get a model that comes with a split capacitor because this will enable your air filter to operate without overheating.

So, no matter if you are at home or outside, you can rest assure that the filter is doing its job. You can get this information easily if you take a look at the technical specification of the unit.

Fresh Air: There is still an ongoing debate on the use of ionization and ozone in air purifiers. Why take a chance that may affect the health of you and your pet? With HEPA filters, we will be able to get clean and pure air every day.

Minimal maintenance: Getting a filter that requires minimal maintenance will definitely make you life much easier.

If you want to buy an air purifier machine, there are factors like the cost, efficiency, durability and the filter replacements that you need to consider. Nowadays, air purifiers are usually equipped with HEPA filter which is very good for filtering dust, bacteria and air pollens.

To rate how well an air purifier is, CADR is used and it stands for Cleaning Air Delivery Rate. You will be able to have cleaner with higher number of CADR on the air purifier machine. The Whirlpool AP51030K is designed to filter the air in medium to large sized rooms up to 500 square feet with a CADR of 315.

Besides the HEPA filter, a carbon filter is another common filter that you can get with air purifier machines. Carbon filters have been used over the centuries to purify water and it wasn’t until the early 20th century that the air cleaning qualities of charcoal got discovered. Activated carbon is therefore also one of the materials used in gas masks.

For filtering the micro particles, a HEPA filter will be used and a carbon filter will filter smells and chemicals. Different air purifiers will have different amount of carbon in them. What this actually measures is the amount of activated carbon used in the filter. For people who cannot stand perfumes, a pre-carbon filter will be great for them.

The efficiency for air purifiers is a very important thing that you need to pay attention too. The amount of air that gets cleaned as it passes through the filter will be determined by the HEPA label.

When the filter is working, some air just flow through without getting filtered and this will make it pointless for you to have a filter at the first place. Therefore, it is vital to check the CADR number on the air purifier so that you will be able to get effective air purifiers.

The bottom line is that the filters make up an important part of an air purifier and you should pay attention to this when calculating the overall cost price. Nowadays, air purifiers come with both the HEPA and carbon filters. Some of the more expensive models on the market claim to have permanent filters.

Vacuuming has to be done in order to clean permanent filters. Consumers would rather change their filters from time to time instead of having a permanent filter.

Itching and rash from dust?

Recently I decided to do a through clean, and hoovered underneath my furniture- but as soon as I did I noticed that my arms and hands were itching and i had red blotches where it itched. I assumed it was so kind of mite or allergy and washed my forearms. Only now the dust must have gotten into he air because in the room my eyes are always burning, I itch all over and it gets worse when I touch things, especially fabrics. It’s even gotten into my hair! How can I get rid of this dust and get my room back? Also, what’s causing it?

It might come as a bit of a surprise but more and more dogs are developing food allergies. While the exact cause of this is still unknown to us, we do know that there is a very valid connection with the ingredients of the dog foods they have ingested.

No one would like to deal with dog food allergies and hopefully you won’t have to. It can be quite an ordeal.

Just to illustrate, my neighbour’s six month old black Lab puppy Bobby could not stop scratching. He seemed so uncomfortable, and his hair fell out in places. He didn’t seem to feel well.

Bobby was eventually taken to see the vet so he can be evaluated and treated for his itching. Bobby’s owners were not aware about food allergies. They presumed that a skin disorder was causing the itching. They were surprised to learn about the real cause.

They found out that Bobby had dog food allergies, even at the young age of six months! They also found out that Labs are among the breeds that are vulnerable to dog food allergies.

The vet explained further that certain dogs are at a higher risk of acquiring food allergies. The breeds most vulnerable include: * Labrador Retrievers * Collies * Lhasa Apsos * Miniature Schnauzers * German Shepherds * Shar Pei * Springer Spaniels and Cocker Spaniels * Dalmatians * Dachshunds * Soft-Coated Wheaton Terriers * West-Highland White Terriers * Boxers

You might be thinking that that’s a pretty long list of dog breeds, and you’d be right. Even more surprising, about 30% of allergic dogs are allergic to food. Their dog food allergy causes them to itch, scratch, lick and bite their skin.

Any very itchy dog has at least a 5% chance of having a dog food allergy. If your dog is constantly itching, biting and scratching, be aware that he or she may be suffering from dog food allergies. First get your dog evaluated and treated for the other common causes of itching, but if the itching persists, dog food allergy must be considered.

So how is Bobby doing now? I am glad to let you know that he’s doing incredibly well on an all-hypoallergenic dog food diet and strictly no people food!

Name suggestions for my story please?

I’m writing a story surrounding 9/11. Here are the characters, please help with the names!

Dad: He is your typical suburban father. He works in New York in a lucrative banking firm, and although he enjoys his job, the horrendous traffic from NJ to NY is killing him. He becomes aggrivated, and his family thinks it is because of them. He just needs a job change. His beloved daughters are going onto college soon, and he wants to spend as much time with them as possible. However, he is killed in the collapse of the WTC, leaving his family with unresolved emotions towards him. He was once funny and adventerous and loved to have a good time. He was the person who loosened up his wife, until he was swallowed by corporate America. He has short, dark brown hair, well built, about 5’9, dark green eyes, has a strength about him.

Mom: She is a little nervy, but she keeps herself pulled together. She’s indecisive, though she keeps it to herself. She is slightly quiet, and sometimes shies away from people altogether. She works extremely hard, running like a maniac to keep her family happy and hold down her job as a nurse after her husband’s death. Prior to his passing, she was a stay-at-home mom, but she was considering starting a baking business. She yet again put her dreams on hold for her girls, but she doesn’t complain. She has light brown hair (like younger daughter’s), that she wears in a bob, is thin, and has grey eyes.

Older daughter: She is 17, and her personality resembles her mom’s. She is serious and constantly over works herself. She is extremely smart, and excels at everything but she has a tendency to be cold, unlike her mom. She has a tendency not to enjoy the little things; she is too busy focusing on her future to notice anything. (She plans on going to Princeton and becoming a doctor.) She is the kind of person who will never stop to smell the roses. She meets a boy who becomes her first boyfriend, but they have problems when she still remains closed off. She isn’t a snob, she just can’t open up. Deep down, she has a kind heart, and becomes supportive of her mother. She’s envious of her sister’s ability to make people laugh and her outgoing nature. She has grey eyes that seem cold, and straight, shoulder-length, dark brown hair and light, ivory skin. She is about 5’4 and athletic, though she feels she could lose some weight. She is prettier than Hallie, but she comes across cold. She is very fashion-forward.

Younger daughter: She is the youghtful figure of the family. She has a warmth about her that disarms people and keeps them smiling. She is the one who reminds her mom and sister that things will be okay. She is non-judgemental and sees the world in a much different light than her mom and sister, much like her dad used to be. She is not very good at school, and she is very much a klutz, so she envies her sister’s ability to be good at everything she does. She works at a daycare, which is the only thing she is good at. She is very, very thin, has puffy light brown hair that she usually wears in a ponytail, freckles, and kind, light green puppydog eyes. She usually wears jeans and sweatshirts or t-shirts. Her skin is more golden than her sister’s. She is not very pretty, but she is fine looking and has a nice smile and eyes.

For dad I was thinking something generic- Dan, Mike
Mom- Susan
Older daughter- Rachel, Claire, Leah, or Karina (I like Karina the best)
Younger daughter- Hallie, Anna, Paige, Lucy (Maybe Hallie?)

Thank you! Sorry it’s a little long!

I have had allergy tests that say I’m not allergic to anything, and I have tried other asthma medications, but it still effects my athletic performance in soccer and cross country. I would like to try alternatives to over the counter medications. Any help would be much appreciated!

You should take your asthma very seriously. Just sitting around and letting your symptoms worsen is the worst thing to do for yourself. This article contains many simple, easy tips that can help you relieve symptoms and improve the quality of your life. All that you need to do is take an active approach to solving your asthma-related problems.

If your child’s asthma is being treated with albuterol, whether it is inhaled or given in tablet or liquid form, you should be aware of the possible side effects. The three most common side effects include restlessness, nervousness and irritability. If your child seems agitated, cranky or unusually energetic after a treatment, he is probably experiencing one or a combination of these side effects. Less frequent side effects include tremors and a fast or irregular heartbeat.

It should go without saying that you need to take any medications prescribed to you by your doctor, but with the current economic state many people are fudging their medications. They are taking less than directed trying to stretch it out or they are skipping doses. To make sure that you get the best results, take your medications exactly as directed by your doctor. An emergency room visit for a severe attack could cost you more than the savings of a few prescriptions.

Create and follow a written asthma action plan. This plan should include all of your asthma medications, including rescue inhalers, dosages and times to take them. Having a written plan makes it easier to follow your treatment plan, which will result in better control of your asthma.

How an Air Purifier Can Help

If you or your children suffer from asthma, one way to prevent the onset of symptoms is to invest in an air purifier. The most effective air purifier is a HEPA air purifier which screens out allergens, such as dust, pollen and pet dander. The next best choice is a UV air purifier, which kills mold, mildew and bacterial and viral germs. Other choices include activated-carbon air purifiers, which combat chemicals and odors, and timed ozone, photo catalytic and negative ion purifiers.

Try to reduce the amount of environmental allergens and pollutants, such as dust, pollens, pet hair, molds and fungi, and food particles. Keeping your house clean can make a huge difference for your asthma symptoms. Buying an air filter or purifier, or even cleaning out the filters in your AC system can also help.

Although asthma is currently not curable, most of its symptoms can be relieved. If you’re one of the millions of people suffering from asthma that find that medication isn’t enough, you should definitely apply these methods to improve your symptoms and prevent asthma from restricting you from enjoying your life.
